In CREATIVE DRAMA WORKSHOPz,
Students ages 8 through 12 will get to experience the joy and inspiration of character creation and scene work, without the pressures of performance or having to be "funny." No pressure - just play . . .

Creative Drama is process-based artform . . .
where the students enter new worlds, and create dozens of original characters, without ever consulting a script! Students are on their feet performing stories heard only once, without rehearsal. At times, they also work together to create an utterly unique story, right on the spot. Students work with the teacher and each other to create dramatic situations and stories, without the limiting factors of a script or an audience

This particular class specializes in taking greatworks of literature, and crafting them into drama workshops where the students work their way through these tales, without knowing in advance what's going to happen next - in effect, they get to live the greatest stories ever told!

Students also learn the comedy improv games that have seen at ComedySportz or on TV's "Whose Line Is It Anyway?".

Each class will have a little drama, a little comedy, and a whole lot of fun!

SHOW?
There will be no formal "performance" at the end of the class, since this artform relies much more on the fun of the journey, rather than creating a polished outcome. However, parents will be invited to come at certain points to act as silent observers, as their children become different characters in whole other worlds.
Participants work on:
  • character development,
  • story development,
  • improvisation,
  • teamwork,
  • creative thinking,
  • and trust as they go though the course.
